I love ritualized, repetitive work. It is my meditation and escape from a chaotic world. It’s the closest I can, truly, be in the present. My eyes and hand are looking, recording, looking, recording; and hours become a blink of an eye. These paintings are steeped in a long process of technical steps and patient execution. They are a study of a single object, meant to be adored. Like religious icons, they are gilded, richly patterned and exalting a perishable gift.
